Chapter 1
12:04 P.M.
“Wake up Sage.”
I groan, and pull my legs and body closer to my chest. The cold air prickles my skin as I rub my arms up and down feeling the goose bumps covering my skin.
“Sage, wake up now.”
My eyes fly open to see the midnight blue dark sky, with the stars twinkling bright, and a small sliver of the moon shining just as bright.
“Sage, you need to start moving,” the same soft, but urging voice said.
“Why, what’s going-“
There’s no one standing there. I put my hands on the sand, and I push myself upwards. I spin in a circle looking at all of my surroundings, past the coffee shops, the taffy shops, just to still see no one.
I start to walk and the cold breezy air slams against me. My feet ached, and all I was wearing was a thin purpley, black dress covering me from my shoulders to my knees, and I’m barefoot.
Wait. How did I get here? I don’t remember getting here. Where am I?
A loud snarl snaps me out of my thoughts. I turn to see where it came from as the big body that almost looks like a dog except two-times bigger with sharp, pointed canine teeth and reddish eyes, leaps at me with a growl. I swiftly spin to the opposite direction, and the dog-like animal slams into the ground. I run as fast as I possibly can.
I run to the closest shop I can find. Which unfortunately none are open. I keep running and the cold air tries to push me back, but I keep running.
The dog-like animal catches up to me, and I run faster, my heels digging into the ground, the gravel pieces my foot and the pain races through me.
I see a shop right ahead of me with its sign saying, “Open,” and the lights are on. There, run as fast as I can to get there.
The dog-like animal snarls so close to my ear I can feel it breathing on me.
I reach the shop door and grab a hold of the handle, yanking it open. I look behind me and the animal is gone. I turn back around to see crystals laid out everywhere and a lady standing not far away from me with a concerning look.
My breath is rapid, and I feel so dizzy, and I have no idea where I am. Why don’t I know where I am?!
“Help me,” I say, before collapsing to the ground.
