If you are looking for a Sci Fi novel even the strictest of parents will let you read, The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer are your series. Here are the best things about it.
- It is all about girl power; it is the stories of Disney princesses, but NO damsels in distress.
- There are great plot twists.
- It is not horror at all and most parents (including mine, and I can’t even watch PG 13 movies) will let you read it.
- Super captivating, no repeats in the books.
- It just keeps on going, there are four books, a prequel and an extra set of books.
- It switches between chapters, so the main character of that book, then the characters of the previous books.
- You literally can’t stop reading it. I just sit on the couch and read it.
Elaborating on the books it goes:
Cinder
Scarlet
Cress
Winter
Then for the compilation of some other perspectives and other things is recommended to read fifth it is called Stars Above which is kind of the earthen’s omg.
After that, is Levana’s backstory called Fairest, so that is highly recommended.
Here is book one’s back cover, which is found in Good Reads.
Book 1
Cinder – Cinderella
Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .
Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.
With high-stakes action and a smart, resourceful heroine, Cinder is a Cinderella retelling that is at once classic and strikingly original.
This is definitely a five out of five, and definitely read them in order, because they all link together. Be sure to read them all!
