FORT COLLINS- Recently everyone has been abuzz about the WAVE mission, and I’m sure many of you are curious about it. Here’s some of the information about the mission.
This semester the wave astronauts went to Ceres, which is a dwarf planet located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. During the two days in which the mission took place, the first day members tested the equipment and parents came in. The second day was the part everything has been building up for: the mission itself! A lot went into the launch and it took a lot of people to make everything come together. There were 15 roles to fill, some of them including project managers, commanders, and mission directors. The staff members had to put in a lot of work to prepare for the mission including building satellites, making medicine, and making sure the communication was good. Another big wonder is probably what sleeping over was like for the astronauts. The astronauts got to stay overnight at Webber and practically have free rein over the school. The astronauts slept on cots in the tech room overnight. Last but not least, keep in mind that for next semester WAVE is open for new recruits!
