Do you like to do art, crochet, write, and more? Then join a Webber club! There are many clubs in which you can pursue your interests and have fun with peers.
Art Club
Art Club is a space for students so that they can create artwork freely and be able to participate in Webber art projects. Mrs. Ruiz is the leader of this club and is the Webber art teacher. If you want to sign up for art club you need parental permission. There are 40 spots open for art club, and when they are filled, you can no longer join. Art club takes place from 2:25 to 3:25 on Thursdays.
ASL Club
ASL Club at Webber is open to all students who are interested in American Sign Language and either want to strengthen their skills or learn anything new. There is no experience required! In this club, people will learn basic ASL and explore Deaf culture. Webber is home to one of the only Deaf programs in PSD. Students have a unique chance to connect with people who already use sign language. The ASL Club is a space where everyone can learn a new language, make friends, and explore uncharted territory in the language universe. ASL Club is hosted by Mrs. Cleary and meets on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:30.
Crochet Club
Crochet Club is a wonderful club where peers can meet and use their skills to create beautiful crochet products and make friends that share the same interests as you. In Crochet Club, you can make crochet to your heart’s desire. Hooks and yarn will be provided. Crochet Club is for anyone from zero experience to a lot of experience. Crochet Club is hosted by Ms. Vaughn from 2:30 to 3:30 on Mondays.
Newspaper Club
Do you like to write, take pictures or videos, create art, interview people, and more? Well then, Newspaper Club is the club for you. During Newspaper Club, students will write for The Webber Weekly, Webber’s digital student newspaper. You can submit all kinds of things to the newspaper and are allowed to express yourself freely. Newspaper Club will meet weekly on Mondays from 2:30-3:30 in Miss Young’s room in B-7. All are welcome and encouraged to join, and students can join at any point throughout the year. We need a whole lot of people to write the newspaper, so go to town and write something down!
WAVE
In WAVE (Webber Aerospace Ventures in Education) students get to simulate real space missions in this hands-on club. Over a couple months, club members work in teams including Engineering, Life Support, Geology, Remote Sensing, and Rover Operations. Using NASA’s structure, students go through ranks from Mission Specialist to Project Manager to Astronaut.
Each mission goes on for two days in a simulation where astronauts operate from our space shuttle while ground teams work together to solve complex problems. Students may build many things to help the astronauts succeed on their mission. Meeting weekly throughout the school year, WAVE develops critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills through missions. WAVE takes place from 2:30 to 3:45 on Tuesdays.
