Chapter 2
Lea:
The note technically wasn’t a note.
Instead a picture.
Emma.
She was standing self-consciously in the mirror.
The picture had writing on it saying things.
A girl looked at it sneakily, trying to cover it with her sweater sleeve.
Probably shouldn’t say more.
I realized that was the table Emma walked away from.
I realized that the girl writing on it looked something like Emma.
Dirty blonde hair.
Green eyes.
Big nose.
I quickly turned around to see Emma staring at my pasta.
She looked dizzy.
“Hu-”
I was gonna ask if she was hungry.
But I couldn’t.
BAM.
Her head hit the table.
She had fainted.
At that point I couldn’t move.
Distressed teachers pushed me out of their way to see if Emma was ok.
Students grabbed their phones so they could make a popular video.
I think her blood pressure was low.
Emma:
I did faint
I did faint.
How will I explain this to my parents?
The note.
The note.
The note.
That bleeping note.
I felt lightheaded that day.
I should’ve eaten something so at least I didn’t have to faint.
Maybe that pasta.
Lea seemed nice.
That’s what I thought as my parents half interrogated me, half comforted me.
“Why did you pass out at school?”
“Have you been drinking water?”
“Are you ok, honey?”
No, I’m not ok.
No, I haven’t been drinking water.
No, I haven’t been eating.
I saw the note.
My sister.
Why would she do that?
Why would she tell me to?
Why would she make that note?
I shouldn’t have listened to her threats.
No.
No.
Yes.
I should have.
What would have happened if I didn’t?
But I guess I needed a diet anyway.
