Chapter 2
I ushered Skylar into the hallway and sat down at the desk outside. She took a seat in front of me. I studied her for a second before starting.
“Skylar, do you know what time you got?” I hoped she looked. That would make this more believable.
She shook her head, her long brown waves shaking around her.
“36 milliseconds. Your classmates got in the range of 150 to 170 milliseconds.”
Skylar’s green eyes widened, her face shocked.
I smiled sheepishly, feeling a little bad. “I’ll let you decide what to do with that information,” I said. “But I do know of a place in Seattle from the teacher training that specializes in special cases.” I shrugged. “I’m not recommending it, but if you feel stuck…going down there might not be horrible.”
Skylar swallowed and whispered, “Yes, Ms. Andid.” She stood up and walked back into the classroom.
I sat there for a second, contemplating how weird it felt to hear students say my last name.
