Prologue
The USS Indianapolis
July 30, 1945
The Pacific Ocean
00:05 hours (12:05am)
The USS Indianapolis. One of the greatest ships of World War II was now sinking at an alarming rate. And Tom was a part of it. The bow was rising a few inches every second of the twelve minutes of this tragic disaster. The fire and destruction had both scared and confused him, as he had woken up not a few minutes before. Men were going overboard into the several-mile-deep water, the ship was groaning, and the high-pitched hollering of cowardice was making Tom’s ears bleed. And in a matter of minutes, the majestic USS Indianapolis would be at the bottom of the Pacific ocean, resting in the darkness undiscovered and alone for nearly seventy years.
