(Trigger warning: PG-13 themes)
This week’s TV suggestion is the TV show “Black-ish” on Disney+! This show follows the plot of a family, all of which are people of color, hence the name. The family includes Rainbow “Bow” Johnson, the mother, played by Tracee Ellis Ross, the father, Andre “Dre” Johnson, played by Anthony Anderson, their eldest daughter, Zoe Johnson, played by Yara Shahidi, their eldest son, Andre Johnson Jr, played by Marcus Scribner, and the twins, Jack and Diane, played by Marsai Martin and Miles Brown. This show is a classic comedy show following their plot. This includes things like Andre trying to be the class president, Zoey trying to get into college, Dre hard at work to make a presentation to Microsoft, and even more. This includes tons of fun comedic lines, and I certainly find myself laughing at this show quite a bit. In one episode, they even go to Disney World! This TV show is more than funny, though, it most importantly can educate viewers about race. It can teach kids about being biracial, being a victim to assumptions or racism, and teaches viewers in a unique way that can still keep people laughing, but not make it offensive. It helps teach viewers not to fall into stereotypes or prejudices. The father is imperfect, but still very funny. At times he feels paranoid, like everyone is out to get him. But eventually as the show progresses he does get better at trusting people. I personally love this show and think it’s a funny and entertaining show, definitely worth putting your time into and trying to watch. It makes for great conversation in the living room or a nice thing to watch during dinner with your family!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I’ll watch Hamilton first before this.
