Staff writers Julie and Sammi began by interviewing crochet club advisor and Webber math teacher, Ms. Vaughn.
Question: How long have you been doing this club?
Ms. Vaughan: This is my fourth year.
Question: I know that in your ELO, the required first project is a square. Is that still true here?
Ms. Vaughan: No, anything you want, you can make it in this club.
Question: What are you making currently?
Ms. Vaughan: Making a hot pad.
Question: If you could give advice to any crocheter, what would it be?
Ms. Vaughan: Be patient with yourself.
Julie and Sammi also interviewed several members of crochet club, including 7th graders Maddie and Tia.
Question: What do you like about crochet club?
Maddie: I’ve never touched a crochet hook and I wanted to learn!
Question: What do you think your first future project will be?
Maddie: Maybe a blanket.
Question: Are there any things you want to add to crochet club?
Maddie: Not really, I like crochet club.
Question: Could you give it a score out of 10?
Maddie: A 9.
Question: What do you like about crochet club?
Tia: I’ve never touched a crochet hook in my life.
Question: What is your first future project?
Tia: Maybe a pig.
Staff writers Daphne, Makayla, and Quinn B also sat down with and interviewed a few members of crochet club. They asked each member the following questions to learn more about their experience: 1) Why did you decide to join the crochet club? 2) How advanced are you in crocheting? and 3) What is your favorite thing to crochet?
One member of crochet club, Vera, an 8th grader, said, “I decided to join the crochet club, because I really like to crochet, and most of my friends are in the club, and that made me more inclined. I am not really advanced, but I can crochet pretty well. My favorite thing to crochet is a bag.”
Another 8th grade member named Lucy added, “I am already in crochet class, and I really like art. I am pretty good at crocheting. My favorite thing to crochet is flowers.”
Last, a 6th grader named Harper shared her thoughts, “I decided to join the crochet club, because I just like crocheting, and I want to be with people that like the same things as me. I am pretty intermediate in crocheting. My favorite things to crochet are squishies and little plushies.”
