Miss Taylor Young
Backward Forward
A Poem by Savanna White
What if we left.
Right now.
Just disappeared.
What would happen?
Would plants take over and animals thrive?
Just go back to how it was before our species came along?
Would they take over buildings boats and houses, trampling walls and ceilings until
Sunlight finally seeped in?
They would probably die.
Chock on plastic, paper, metal.
Get shocked from outlets, closed behind doors, set off car alarms
Until it was just ruins, concrete, fire, shrieks-
Of not just alarms
And the smell of dead animal.
And nothing
No one
to solve it.
Or help.
No, this can’t just go backward forward.
That is, by itself.
Because we are the ones who wonder, learn, discover.
Who knows what we can do to solve, not find a solution that only make more problems.
We know what the solution is,
Just maybe don’t want it to happen.
So
Its so selfish of us.
Not all of us though.
People do know what we have to do.
Some get annoyed at others for making our wold
There world too
This way for all of us.
But people ether wont want these solutions
Or let them
Happen.
They think
That the ‘future’ needs to be different
Than the past.
Does it?
