Miss Taylor Young
In this opinion piece, Beckett Perroni shares his thoughts on why you should participate in Webber Aerospace Ventures in Education (WAVE).
#1: The Cooperation
WAVE is a simulation of a space mission, and although you are in separate groups, it takes all of them for the mission to not fail. E.g. in WAVE 60, it took literally all of the teams to keep the Astros alive.
#2: The Preparation
For WAVE to function, it takes weeks of preparation to get everything ready to go for the mission. Every team’s preparation is unique. For example, Rover makes a lego rover and the rover Astro programs it to complete tasks on the surface that Surfacing makes.
#3: The Mission
Yes, the mission. Where all of WAVE is put to the test and sees if the mission is a success. The thrill is high and pressure is on. Disasters often take place. The Water, Life, and Geology teams see if the planet is habitable, and the mission is summarized.
#4: The Teams
There are many teams to choose from, and I am going to list them for you: Rover, Geology, Life, Water, Art, Astros, M&Ms, Engineering, Surfacing, Security & Hospitality, Comms, and Mission Control. There are many choices, so think before you choose!
#5: WAVE
WAVE is just such a great club where STEAM is important and hard work is inevitable, but it is one of the best clubs I have ever joined. I really hope you will join this spring’s WAVE and have a great time!
