Miss Taylor Young
Middle School: A Poem by Savanna White
Bad reviews and dread
All those movie stereotypes got in my head
Long nights of tears in bed
Didn’t know I should have been exited
Instead
I changed myself to fit the trends
Made fun of or felt bad for without my defense
We weren’t ourself or didn’t know who that was
Acted like a teenager just ‘cause
Our age said we needed to be
But honestly
After all the assumptions and stereotypes were gone
We could see
We were wrong
Girls might rumor and boys boys might stink
But you realize there’s more than you think
Be yourself and you’ll find friends
Because theres no reason to pretend
Popularity is just whose well known
Also don’t think you’ll be on your own
Everybody’s recipe makes them who they are
So many similarities can’t be far
Learn from mistakes and make yourself proud
When you find yourself sing it loud
Without this experience
I wouldn’t of been or found myself since
These people and this school made me who I am
I’m blessed with this group who will rule
Our next year in High School
That wouldn’t of happened in our life
Without this chance to strive
So don’t believe these lies (from people with a bad time)
I can’t wait for what’s next
Thanks for making me my best
