Woody Guthrie was a musician and songwriter. His most famous song was, “This Land is Your Land.” He was born on July 14th, 1912, in Okemah, Oklahoma. He sadly contracted an illness called Huntington’s disease in the 1940s. Huntington’s disease is a neurological condition where you can have strange movements, difficulties with balance, memory problems, and personality changes. Guthrie was sent to many different psychiatric hospitals. He unfortunately died on October 3, 1967, at Creedmoor State Hospital in Queens, New York. He died from Huntington’s disease at the age of 55.
